ABB wins $160m order for substations in Kuwait

Swiss power and automation technologies firm ABB has won orders worth $160m to build electrical substations in Kuwait.

The orders, for two new switchgear substations and the extension of three existing ones, aim to the expansion of oil fields in Rawdatain.

The government is reported to be investing in the country’s power infrastructure to expand oil production from the current 2.9 million barrels per day (bpd) to 4 million bpd by 2020.

The substations are scheduled for completion by 2016.
