Acciona wins $6.2bn Canadian dam deal

A consortium of Acciona Infrastructure Canada, Petrowest Corporation and Samsung C&T Canada has won the main civils contract for the Site C Clean Energy Project in British Columbia.

The Peace River Hydro Partners was chosen for the $6.2bn project by energy company BC Hydro.
The civils work will include the construction of an earthfill dam, two diversion tunnels and a concrete foundation for the generating station and spillways.

Darren Sokoloski, president of Acciona Canada, said: "Our team is excited to be a part of building a project for British Columbians that will provide clean energy for generations to come.

"This project will mark 15 years of successful infrastructure delivery in Canada for Acciona and aligns with our mandate for excellence in major project delivery globally."

Acciona is a Spanish conglomerate based in Madrid, which employs about 30,000 people in 30 countries. The Site C Clean Energy Project will be its third major project in British Columbia.
