Aecom’s spending spree continues with Hunt Construction Group

US multidisciplinary giant Aecom has announced that it is to follow last week’s $4bn purchase of Californian rival URS with the acquisition of Hunt Group, a construction management firm based in Indianapolis.

The value of the deal has not been announced, but Hunt employs 700 people in nine offices across the US and its 2013 turnover was $1.2bn. Hunt provides construction services for large projects, such as sports stadiums and airports.

Michael Burke, Aecom’s chief executive, said his company had worked with Hunt on the construction and design of sports stadiums across the US. He added that Hunt would bring more than $4bn of work to Aecom.

Burke said: "It’s been our vision to continue down the path of building the premier, integrated infrastructure firm in the world. Taking the expertise of Hunt and driving that expertise through our global platform will give us greater opportunities to expand services."

Burke said talks between Hunt and Aecom had started around a year ago.

The week before its purchase of URS, Aecom bought ACE International Consultants for an undisclosed amount.
