Balfour Beatty to build tower in downtown Portland

Howard S Wright, a Balfour Beatty subsidiary, has been selected by BPM Real Estate Group to build its Broadway Tower project in downtown Portland in the northwestern American state of Oregon.

The 19 storey, 430,000 square foot office and hotel development will house a 180-room Radisson RED hotel. It will also contain 175,000 square feet of office space and 2,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.

The hotel will occupy Broadway Tower’s first eight floors with Class A office space occupying the top 11.

The exterior of the building will be constructed using a combination of glass curtain walling and terracotta rainscreen cladding.

An app for the hotel will allow for keyless entry to rooms and enable guests to order room service and stream media from their devices to the television.

Broadway Tower is Howard S Wright’s second project for BPM Real Estate in Portland; earlier this year it delivered the Pearl West office building.

Troy Dickson, Howard S Wright’s senior vice president, said: "BPM Real Estate Group is committed to developing intelligently designed projects that enhance their communities and we’re honored to be their construction partner."

Construction on the project is already under way and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2018.
