BAM has been chosen by the Netherlands’ state-run firm ProRail to renovate the Driebergen-Zeist rail station area, located east of Utrecht.
The contract is worth approximately $100m.
ProRail is renewing the station on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, the Province of Utrecht and the municipalities of Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Zeist.
The development includes a new rail station and a redesign of the area.
BAM will renew the rail infrastructure by constructing two additional tracks for through-trains and a bus station and underground bicycle parking area.
The activities will therefore take into account the ecological values, the landscape and cultural heritage aspects.
ProRail says the refurbished station will be energy neutral thanks to energy-efficient systems and the installation of solar panels on the platform roofs.
BAM will start construction in the spring of 2017.
