Dutch firm BAM has been awarded a €90m contract by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zürich.
The BSS laboratory and research centre will be used for biosystems science, and will be based on the Schällemätteli campus in Basel.
The nine-storey, 37,500-sq-m project will include a technical level on the roof.
It will also contain laboratories, offices and classrooms, as well as clean rooms and a cafeteria.
Construction work, which has already begun, is being carried out by a joint venture between BAM Swiss and BAM Deutschland.
The development was designed by Nickl & Partner Architekten Schweiz AG.
The project will be completed by autumn of 2021.
