The factory will eventually be able to produce 1,500 homes a year, reports Construction Manager.

The news came as Countryside revealed that completions had risen 43% in the six months to 31 March, increasing to 2,362 homes. Excluding the impact of its acquisition of housebuilder Westleigh last year, completions were up 8% to 1,788.

The company also recorded a 49% increase in its forward order book to must over £1bn (up 28% to £891m excluding Westleigh).

Ian Sutcliffe, group chief executive, said: "Despite the wider political and macroeconomic uncertainty, demand for mixed-tenure homes remains strong and we have enjoyed a robust spring selling season. With our modular timber frame factory now operational, we continue to be well positioned to deliver on our geographic expansion. With excellent visibility of future work, we remain confident of delivering our medium-term growth plans."
