Damac’s new luxury scheme, “Oxygen”, to be a breath of fresh air in the desert

Dubai developer Damac Properties has revealed plans to build its second Dubailand project, featuring what it calls the "greenest living spaces" in the emirate.

The Akoya Oxygen development will measure over 55m sq ft and will contain green open spaces, private gardens and various residential developments surrounding a championship golf course.

Akoya Oxygen will also have retail and hospitality facilities including a five star hotel, a luxury "wellness" centre and an organic marketplace.

It will be located near Damac’s first Dubailand development, Akoya. Damac said that the new "Oxygen" development pursues an "escape the city" ambience with an "upscale resort feel."

"Akoya Oxygen is set to be the first community of its kind in Dubai," said Ziad El Chaar, managing director of Damac Properties. "It is being designed to be a masterpiece that isn’t just architecturally accomplished, but also lives in harmony with the environment."

As well as adding in many water features to the desert environment, Damac says it will plant more than 4,000 trees "to ensure cleaner air and naturally cooler temperature".

Dubailand’s Living Legends residential project is set to be delivered by the end of the year.
