Swedish contractor NCC has won a $42m contract from PensionDanmark to build a headquarters for Danish shipping line DFDS in the shape of a vessel docked at port.
The building will be based on the waterside at Marmormolen wharf in Nordhavn Harbour, Copenhagen.
The cruise liner-inspired development will have a car park for its "bottom deck" and three upper decks containing office space, meeting rooms, a restaurant and a 300-seat auditorium.
A roof terrace will offer views over the harbour.
Palle Bjerre Rasmussen, NCC’s head of building in Denmark, said: "It is very exciting to be involved in the construction of this office with its maritime character and waterside location, thus tying in with DFDS’s operations."
Foundation works on the project have begun, with construction set to start next month. Staff are due to move into the offices in 2022.
