Ferrovial awarded Polish contracts worth $196m

Spanish construction group Ferrovial has been awarded a contract to build section of the S3 four-lane expressway between Nowa Sól and Legnica in south-west Poland.

The consortium, which is made up of Ferrovial Agroman and its Polish subsidiary Budimex, will build a 23km section of road, including three junctions, several walkways and a tunnel for bikes.

Budimex will also build a technology centre for Polish company Beyond.pl in Poznań, also in western Poland.

The complex will comprise two buildings, one for offices, classrooms and meeting rooms, and the other for technological infrastructure such as power supply systems and climate control. The contract is worth $26m.

The expressway project is expected to be completed in 30 months.

Ferrovial has recently pulled out of takeover talks with Australian infrastructure operator Transfield Services after Transfield rejected its offer of A$2 a share.
