ADIF, Spain’s state-operated rail infrastructure manager, has selected Spanish contractor Ferrovial for a €121m contract to build a 25.7km high-speed line between the towns of Pulpí and Vera in the southeastern Spanish province of Almería.

A single-tracked line with a 8.5m-wide railbed will run the 22km from Vera to Almanzora passenger station; the final 3.7km to Pulpí will be double-tracked with a 14m railbed.

Work on the project also includes construction of 10 viaducts, the longest of which will be 774m long, a pedestrian overpass, and multiple under and overpasses to cross roads and railway lines.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 30 months
