The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has announced the date – 28 April – for this year’s heritage building conservation conference, which will address the topic of "Future Skills for Traditional Buildings".
Delivered in partnership with English Heritage, the event features experts from industry and academia who will cover every aspect of heritage in the built environment.
The popular event is in its sixth year, with tickets selling out in 2019.
An early bird offer is in effect until 31 January, giving attendees 10% off the price. The booking code is: "EARLY2020".
In keeping with the theme, the conference will be held in London at Church House, Westminster, which survived a direct hit during the Second World War and went on to house Parliament for the remainder of the conflict.
The CIOB notes that in the UK, 50% of all construction works are on traditional buildings.
Chaired by CIOB chief executive Caroline Gumble, the conference will explore issues such as:
- Balancing the shortage of traditional skills with the need for modern methods of working;
- The role of apprenticeships;
- Digital solutions for heritage conservation;
- Mapping the skills shortages.
