The Hong Kong office of Danish architect Henning Larsen has designed a "Scandinavian" development for Shanghai.
"The Springs" is described by the firm as a "liveable green habitat" and contains outdoor terraces on each floor and a green public space at its centre.
The development will house three buildings which will contain work space for creative industries.
The project’s design was inspired by Shan Shui, a traditional Chinese form of landscape painting which uses a brush and ink.
Henning Larsen worked with Danish landscape architect SLA on the project; the client was New York real estate firm Tishman-Speyer.
Claude Bøjer Godefroy, Henning Larsen’s founding partner, said: "We wanted to create a protected environment in this city centre that contributes to the potential for this development to become a new focus that generates and attracts public life in uptown Shanghai.
"We understand sustainability in broad terms. It is important to offer people environmentally friendly surroundings while at the same time developing a building that stages human interaction."
Construction on the project has already begun, and is due to be completed in 2020.
