HOK’s basketball stadium aims to regenerate Valencia

American architect HOK and Spanish designer ERRE have been chosen to design a 15,000-seat stadium that is intended to reinvigorate the centre of Valencia in southeast Spain.

The arena will host music performances as well as arts and cultural events, and act as the home venue for basketball team Valencia Basket Club. The stadium will be the centre of a wider regeneration effort masterplanned by Licampa 1617 that will include training facilities, a museum, hospitality amenities and a seating bowl.

John Rhodes, HOK’s sports, recreation and entertainment director, said: "Our vision is to create a sustainable home for Valencia Basket that will become a world-class sports and entertainment destination.

"It will be a valuable asset for the local economy, attracting visitors from across the region and creating a wonderful gateway building to the city."
