A joint venture between Leighton Asia and Chun Wo Construction and Engineering has been awarded a $295m contract by the Airport Authority Hong Kong to carry out foundation and substructure works at its Terminal 2 expansion project.
Leighton Asia has a 70% stake in the joint venture and will deliver the foundations for the terminal as well as two annexes and a basement.
Earlier this year, Leighton Asia was given a $210m contract to deliver an annex building and a car park extension at Terminal 1.Â
Juan Santamaria, managing director of Leighton Asia, said: "Our team is committed to utilising innovative and cost-effective construction solutions to achieve the project’s planned operational, economic and social benefits."
Construction is to commence next month and be completed by December 2021.
Leighton Asia is a subsidiary of Australian contractor Cimic, which is a subsidiary of Hochtief of Germany, which is controlled by ACS of Spain. It has recently won two other contracts in Hong Kong, a $328m job for the construction of the East Kowloon Cultural Centre and $1.2bn contract to build the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel, a district in the New Territories.
