UK construction and outsourcing group Interserve has won a two-year contract extension worth up to $335m (£265m) to continue as the infrastructure support provider for four international bases for the UK’s armed forces.
The contract was awarded by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) on behalf of the Joint Forces Command (JFC).
The four sites comprise sites in the Falkland Islands and the Ascension Island in the Atlantic, as well as Gibraltar and Cyprus in the Mediterranean. Â
Interserve is responsible for facilities management and maintenance at the bases. It also provides a range of site-specific services, such as aircraft handling at Ascension, power generation, water treatment and plant management in the Falklands, and support for vessels in Gibraltar.
Adrian Ringrose, Interserve’s chief executive, said: "The smooth running of these Permanent Joint Operating Bases is vital to the security of our armed forces and the civilians that they protect.
"We are extremely proud to support the building and maintenance of the infrastructure required for our country’s defence efforts both at home and abroad."
Interserve has held the Permanent Joint Operating Bases contracts with the DIO and JFC for more than 10 years.
