Jacobs buys into Brazilian engineering firm

6 November 2013

US engineering group Jacobs has acquired an interest in Brazilian project management and engineering firm Guimar Engenharia, its first significant investment in the country.

With around 1,100 staff, Guimar has clients throughout Brazil in sectors including building, infrastructure, mining and industrial.

Jacobs executive vice president Gary Mandel said the acquisition "would enable us to further enhance and build our business, both globally and locally."

Jacobs did not disclose the terms of the agreement but said the acquisition is a staged investment, with each stage subject to certain closing conditions.
