Keller wins Singapore hospital foundations job

1 October 2013

Ground engineering specialist Keller has been awarded a $53.4m contract to construct foundations for the new Sengkang hospital project in Singapore.

Keller’s contract covers the construction of a diaphragm wall and bored and secant piles.

The piling works, which make up the largest element of the contract, will be undertaken by Resource Piling, Keller’s Singapore-based subsidiary, who will install more than 2,500 piles of varying diameters.

Once complete the project, for the Singapore Ministry of Health, will create an integrated general hospital, community hospital and specialist outpatient facilities, catering for more than 700,000 residents in the region.

Keller will begin work next month and is scheduled to complete in the third quarter of 2014.

Keller chief executive Justin Atkinson said: "This is the largest contract award to date for Resource Piling. It is a good example of how the businesses we acquire are able, over time, to take on larger and more complex work, knowing they have the technical and financial backing of a strong, international parent."
