LafargeHolcim announces fourth acquisition of the year

LafargeHolcim, the world’s largest cement maker, has bought Colorado rival Metro Mix. Through the acquisition, LafargeHolcim plans to strengthen its position in the US cement, ready-mix, aggregates and asphalt markets.

Metro Mix operates two ready-mix concrete plants, has over 50 staff and had sales of $30m last year.

Jan Jenisch, LafargeHolcim’s chief executive, said: "This is our fourth acquisition this year, in line with our Strategy 2022, ‘Building for Growth’.

"Metro Mix’s operations are highly complementary to our existing footprint and will allow us to gain a larger share in a growing market with immediate commercial and operational synergies."

LafargeHolcim’s other acquisitions this year included Tarrant Concrete, another American ready-mix firm, and UK aggregate company Kendall Group.
