“Occasional” 108m-high waterfall adorns Guizhou tower

A 121m-high tower has recently been completed in a city in southwest China, complete with 108m tall waterfall.

The Liebian Mansion buildings, in the centre of Guiyang, in Guizhou province, has four 185kW pumps that move the water from the bottom to the top of the building.

When the pumps were first switched on, onlookers thought the cascade was a catastrophic leak and called reporters. One commented: "It looks like a white satin ribbon from the distance, but upon a closer look, it is a real waterfall."

The water feature costs $118 per hour to run but will only be used occasionally.
