The local subsidiary of Spanish contractor Obrascón Huarte Lain (OHL) has been awarded a €172m contract by the Czech state railway administration.

The role involves modernising a line running between Votice in the centre of the Czech Republic to Sudomerce on the Slovakian border.

The project’s scope includes four tunnels, two bridge and station, and when finished it will increase the speed of express trains to 160km/h and reduce the travel time between Prague and Tabor to an hour.

The project is part of a larger initiative financed by the EU and the Czech Republic.
