Construction of the 969MW Neelum-Jhelum hydroplant has sparked controversy India, which believes the project violates the 1960 Indus Water Treaty covering the Jhelum river.

The new scheme will divert water from the Neelum river to a power station on the Jhelum river and is expected to start generating power at the end of 2015.
