Salini Impregilo wins $550m of contracts in Saudi Arabia

Milanese contractor Salini Impregilo has won a $300m deal from the Al Khozama Management Company in Saudi Arabia to build a hospitality, retail and commercial project in Saudi Arabia.

The Al Faisaliah District Redevelopment Project begins with a $53m refurbishment of the Al Faisaliah Mall and the demolition of the adjacent Seyahiah buildings to make way for the construction of a mall extension.

Described as the "ultimate lifestyle destination experience", the mall will be remodeled and upgraded section by section, ensuring that it remains open throughout the period of the work, which is expected to be completed in 16 months.

The entire project is to be finished in three years.

Company also today announced that it had won a $255m design-and-build desalination plant in the kingdom from private utility ACWA Power.

Located in the Shuaiba area on the western coast of Saudi Arabia, the plant will use reverse osmosis technology to deliver up to 250,000 cubic metres of water a day to more than one million people in the cities of Mecca, Jeddah and Taif.

Salini Impregilo has previously worked on the kingdom’s Riyadh metro project.
