Skanska lands €60m wastewater contract in Tampere, Finland

Skanska has signed a contract with Tampere Region Central Wastewater Treatment Plant to perform an extensive tunnelling and excavation project for a wastewater treatment plant to be built underground in Tampere, Finland.

The contract is worth €60m, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the fourth quarter 2019.

The project consists of excavation works for the processing spaces and sewage tunnelling, as well as concrete structures.

The new plant will treat wastewater with more modern technology than existing plants in the region, and will also remove more nitrogen from the water.

The plant will serve Tampere as well as several neighbouring municipalities.

The project starts in December 2019 and will be completed during the summer 2022.

Announcing the project win, Skanska said it had sales of about SEK 67 billion (€6.15bn) and more than 15,500 employees in its Nordic operations during 2018.
