Senda Infraestructuras, a subsidiary of Spain’s Obrascón Huarte Lain (OHL), will work in a consortium with UK financier Equitix, Japanese construction firm Kajima and Irish housing association Tuath on a €130m contract for 465 social housing units in Ireland.
The team will design, finance, build and operate a public-private partnership under to build 110 apartments and 355 houses in the counties of Cork, Kildare, Clare, Galway, Waterford and Roscommon.
The contract involves providing management and maintenance services for 25 years after the construction is complete.
OHL says it will work in a joint venture with Irish contractor JJ Rhatigan, and its designs will meet the EU’s "nearly zero-energy" standards. Â
The social housing contracts are part of a 1,500-unit initiative by the Irish government.

It is a poor reflection on the Irish Construction Industry that they are unable to build 450 housing units with out the assistance of foreign firms. Most likely 15% or so of the project costs will end up in foreign hands
