Toyota starts work on $350m Texas headquarters

Toyota has begun work on a $350m headquarters campus in Plano, northern Texas. The project, which was designed by Corgan Associates, will be developed by Dallas real estate company KDC and project managed by Jones Lang LaSalle.

The Japanese automotive company’s new base, which will be located at the intersection of Headquarters Drive and Palomino Crossing, is expected to be finished in 2016. It will house 4,000 Toyota employees.

Michael Groff, president of Toyota Financial Services, said: "Breaking ground in Plano is an exciting and tangible demonstration of the great progress we are making in bringing our major North American business affiliates and leaders together in one location for the first time.

"As we create this best place to work for our people, we will strengthen our ability to put customers first and make a meaningful difference in the communities we are privileged to serve."

Toyoto is this year planning to launch a fuel cell vehicle for less than $100,000.
