The US Department of Energy (DOE) will invest up to $46m to defend against possible cyber threats to solar energy systems.
The DOE say: "With more and more solar generation coming online every day, grid operators need the tools and technologies to ensure that the electric grid is resilient and energy services are delivered to critical infrastructure."
Funding will go towards strategies that help solar energy projects develop real-time system monitoring and reliable communication.
The DOE will invest between $2m and $10m in 10 projects. Those applying for grants will work with critical infrastructure owners and operators on their schemes.
