Vancouver in British Columbia has urged residents to submit designs that will be painted on its pavements.
The designs will be drawn using "rain paint", which is only visible on wet concrete, which means the designs will usually only be visible between October and March.
Designs should be themed depending to their locations:
- At Helena Gutteridge Plaza, designs should be themed around public space
- At a public space between 63rd and Yukon, submissions should be themed around green infrastructure
- At the Olympic Village, drawings should reference water.
Submissions can take many forms, including drawings, poems and games.
Winning submissions will be chosen by designer Jeff Kulak in partnership with Germaine Koh, Vancouver’s engineering artist-in-residence.
Rain paint stencils will be designed by Kulak, who will use the submitted ideas as inspiration.

Rain paint designs will appear in public spaces starting in the autumn of 2018.
