Eleven teams have bid for $465m (PLN1.7bn) worth of contracts to design and build 90km of roads and technical infrastructure connecting Poland’s new airport to its public road system.
Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has divided the project into three sections and predicts that a different contractor will win each one. The three contracts are:
- Eastern Airport Connection: Linking the airport with the A2 motorway at the Baranów junction;
- Eastern Airport Ring Road: A section running from the junction with the Northern Airport Ring Road near the village of Kaski Centralne to the CPK East interchange;
- Northern and Western Airport Ring Roads: An upgrade of National Road No. 50 and the Wiskitki interchange junction.
The 11 bidders are:
- Budimex;
- A consortium of Unibep and Track Tec;
- Duna Polska;
- Porr;
- Mostostal;
- Strabag;
- Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Technicznych Intercor;
- A consortium of Rubau Polska and Terlot;
- NDI;
- Trakcja;
- A team of Mirbud and Kobylarnia.
All three contracts are expected to be signed by mid-2026.
Filip Czernicki, CPK’s chief executive, said: “We are creating a new standard for integrating air, road and rail transport as part of one of the most important infrastructure projects in Poland’s history.
“The companies and consortia selected through the tender process are leaders in the Polish road construction market, guaranteeing the highest-quality solutions from design through to delivery.”
Work on the roads is due to be completed by the second half of 2031.
In April 2026 Polish Ferrovial subsidiary Budimex won a US$40m contract to lay the foundations for the new airport.
It was announced in September 2025 that a Budimex and Strabag team were in the running to build the airport’s terminal building, with rival teams including Hochtief and Porr.
The airport will be located 50km west of Warsaw and will form part of the Port Polska megaproject, an overhaul of Poland’s transport network involving 2,000km of high-speed rail and highway upgrades.
The goal is to bring all major Polish cities to within a 2.5 hour journey from the airport.
