Abu Dhabi funds 3,330 homes in Kabul

Abu Dhabi is funding a major housing development in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The $182-million development will see 3,330 housing units built on a 54-hectare site in Kabul.

Abu Dhabi has allocated a grant of $250 million to Afghanistan for development programs, including this housing project.

 

At a ground-breaking ceremony attended by Afghan president Hamid Karzai, H.E Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, acting director general of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development said: "The grant will effectively contribute to the support of the Afghan government’s efforts to achieve comprehensive development."

Since 1977 the ADFD has givens grants and loans to Afghanistan totalling around $284 billion, the ADFD said.
