Airbnb launches competition for two people to sleep with the sharks

Airbnb, the website that allows people to list and rent accommodation, is running a competition to allow two guests the chance to stay for free in a shark-filled aquarium.

The underwater bedroom is located in the Aquarium de Paris, where the only thing separating guests from their neighbours is a transparent bubble.

The listing is described as a "peaceful enclosure with a large cylindrical bed and breathtaking, immersive views of your new sharp-toothed friends".

The 33-foot-deep room is submerged in 3 million litres of water surrounded by 35 sharks.

Competition winners are reminded that no selfies are allowed after dark as sharks are sensitive to light, and that sleepwalking or night swimming is prohibited.

The guests will be welcomed by host, Fred Buyle, a world record-breaking freediver, underwater photographer and shark enthusiast, who will make the introductions.

Once the visitors are settled in, Fred and a marine biologist will guide the lucky winners on a tour through the aquarium and provide a glimpse into the private lives of sharks.

The Aquarium de Paris opened in 1867 and is located at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

Airbnb will fly winners from anywhere in the world to Paris for their stay. The competition will be judged on a 50 to 550 word essay describing who is going and why they deserve to win.

If you’re interested in being submerged for the evening enter the competition here, but be snappy because it finishes on the 3 April.
