The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will use Atkins, listed as the 14th largest global design firm in Engineering News Record in 2012, for on-call construction management and inspection services.
Atkins will also support the department’s new Connecting Arkansas Program, which involves a $1.8bn ten-year project to construct and improve highways across Arkansas’ 75 counties.
Chris Campbell, Atkins’ practice manager, said: "Arkansas is making extensive highway improvements through 2018 and beyond, and we are gratified to be able to take part in the state’s transportation progress."
