Balfour Beatty to help build Fort Worth’s tallest building since 2009

Balfour Beatty Construction US has been selected by Anthracite Realty Partners and Bennett Benner Partners to provide preconstruction and construction services for a landmark high-rise in downtown Fort Worth, Texas.

The company said it is engaged in "shaping the project’s final scope and contract", which includes the core, shell and interior finish-out of the 25-storey, Class-AA commercial office tower on Taylor Street, to be known as ‘640 Taylor’ after the street number.

The mixed-use tower will have ground-floor shops, a 12th-floor sky lobby and conference centre, and an eatery with a 3,400 sq ft dining deck overlooking Sundance Square and Burnett Park.

Adjacent to the eatery will be a 3,200 sq ft roof garden with dramatic use of Texas native plants.

Scheduled for completion in December 2017, 640 Taylor will be the seventh tallest building in Fort Worth and the first one to exceed 200 feet since 2009.

Read Ballew, president of Balfour Beatty’s Texas Division, said the firm would use "lean construction practices and the latest virtual design technologies" to deliver the project.
