Carlos Jarque steps down as chairman of FCC to be “closer to family”

Spanish contractor Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC) has announced that its chairman, Carlos Jarque will be replaced by Pablo Colio, the company’s present general manager.

Colio, who has worked for FCC for almost 23 years, will combine both roles. An architect by training, he is credited with organising FCC Industrial’s international expansion and the unification of the group’s industrial companies under the FCC Industrial brand.

Jarque said that he had achieved his goals and that, for personal reasons, he wished to return to Mexico to be closer to his family.

He said: "Notwithstanding the challenges that remain, under the leadership of Carlos Slim and with the support of the company’s board, executives and staff, FCC is now experiencing a new and positive cycle, as reported to the last shareholders’ meeting on 28 June 2017."

Jarque was appointed CEO in August 2015.

Mexican billionaire Slim, said to be one of the richest people in the world, took control of FCC in 2014. Jarque will remain as a member of the FCC board of directors.
