Case unveils heavier, more comfy mini excavator

Case Construction Equipment has expanded its mini excavator line-up with a 3.9-tonne machine with improved stability and operator comfort.

The CX38D weighs 430kg more than the popular CX35D and sits on a 120mm-wider undercarriage for extra stability, with an optional six-way dozer blade.

A 200mm-longer dipper arm increases digging reach, with a 250mm-longer arm available as an option.

If more lifting capability is need, there is also the option of a heavier counterweight.

Hydraulic power

Load-sensing hydraulics provide accurate, simultaneous movement of all hydraulic functions, while low-effort joysticks help the operator, Case says.

The CX38D can be supplied with up to three auxiliary circuits, all controlled through electro-proportional roller switches on the joysticks.

New hydraulic architecture improves breakout forces, lifting capacity and upper carriage swing performance.

The dozer blade has a float function to help operators level ground and clear the job site.

Two options that are normally available only on larger models include electro-proportional flow control for the first auxiliary service and electro-proportional engine rpm control with auto-idle functionality.

Operator comfort

The machine has an optimised full-size operator cab while retaining its zero tail-swing design.

New footrests give extra clearance on the cab floor while more air vents helps ventilation and demisting.

The main cab air conditioning components have been moved to the upper rear spoiler, allowing zero tail-swing in the vertical axis and improved visibility.

The CX38D has a more advanced digital display, and more stowage space for the operator.

New anti-theft technology makes the use of a second key as an immobiliser unnecessary.

The new machine comes with an integrated telematics module, enabling real-time data transmission and alerts for dealers, customers and operators.

The entire cab structure can be tilted forward for easier service and repair.

The CX38D is the 20th model in Case’s compact excavator range.
