Chinese developer Country Garden to mass-produce construction robots

Country Garden, China’s largest property developer, plans to mass-produce construction robots next year in order to cut costs and raise efficiency, it said on Friday, reports Reuters.

The group began investing in robotics research in 2018. That year, it halted work on more than 2,000 projects after a number of fatal accidents. The company said it would overhaul its site processes.

Country Garden’s interest in robotics was on display last week when it opened China’s first fully robotic restaurant.

According to Reuters, the company said it aims to have at least one robot at each of its construction sites across the nation.

In 2018 the developer said it would invest 16 billion yuan ($2.33bn) in robotics each year for five years. It is also developing robots for its agriculture, restaurant and property management businesses, said Reuters.
