Mott MacDonald acquires Italian-Emirati energy specialist, Wideurope

UK-based engineer Mott MacDonald has acquired engineering and design consultancy Wideurope Engineering with a view to getting better access to the global energy sector.

Established in 2002, Wideurope Engineering employs around 50 people from offices in Dubai and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates and in Genoa, Italy.

The company operates primarily in the energy sector providing expert technical support and professional services in civil, structural and electro-mechanical design.

Wideurope’s portfolio features power and desalination plants in the GCC and Southwest Asia, combined cycle power plants in Italy and North Africa, and a range of projects in South America and Southeast Asia.

"We’ve worked closely together for many years so we understand each other’s strengths and where we can draw on that expertise to best support our clients," said Mott MacDonald chairman Keith Howells. "Coming together is the next natural progression in our relationship."

He continued: "Adding a base in Genoa will give us access to high quality engineering skills in Italy and the strong client relationships Wideurope have built will offer new scope to work closely with global energy sector. We’re excited about exploring wider international opportunities together."

Mott MacDonald already has a global network of over 3,000 staff working directly on energy-related projects.
