Turner & Townsend puts Anooj Oodit in charge of Asia business

UK-headquartered construction consultant Turner & Townsend has promoted Anooj Oodit (pictured) to the role of managing director for Asia.

He succeeds Duncan Stone, who worked for Turner & Townsend for 31 years and oversaw the Asian business since 2008. Stone is retiring.

Oodit will continue to manage the company’s operations in Australia and New Zealand business, which has seen 60% growth in revenue since 2014.

The company said his expanded remit reflects "growing synergies" among the Asia-Pacific economies of China, Southeast Asia, India and Oceania.

These synergies include regionalised supply chains for materials, construction and consultancy services.

The company has worked on major infrastructure projects in Australia, including Sydney Metro and Inland Rail.

Elsewhere, it is working on Hong Kong Airport and Virgin Hyperloop in Mumbai.

Vincent Clancy, chairman and chief executive at Turner & Townsend, thanked Duncan Stone, and said: "The Managing Director role will allow Anooj to bring this experience and insight to the whole of the Asia business while continuing to lead our Australia and New Zealand operations to help us unlock further growth."

Oodit said: "The opportunity to shape a new direction for communities and their economies in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic is significant. Strengthening regional linkages and sharing expertise will be important to the delivery of sustainable, high-performing programmes."

Turner & Townsend employs 1,300 people in 30 offices in Asia.

  1. Turner & Townsend has always been committed to rewarding loyalty with proven skill, and it has been shown that the cream of such talent will rise to the top. Such is the case with Anooj Oodit whose ability was clear to see by all around him, when I worked with T&T at the turn of the millennium. I wish him well.
