The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority has announced that it is investigating a number of companies operating in the country’s asphalt market.

It said it was looking at whether the companies have engaged in “prohibited cooperation”.

The authorities have not named specific companies. However, Swedish contractor Peab has said it is cooperating with the probe and has “zero tolerance of any forms of irregularities”.

GRK has reported that the FCCA conducted an unannounced inspection at the offices of its Finnish subsidiary and that no information is available about the investigation.

The authority has not given a timeframe for its investigation.
