A Hill International joint venture with Italian state railway engineer Italferr and Qatar-based project manager Astad has been awarded a $42m contract by Qatar Railways to project manage the Lusail Light Rail Transit (LLRT) system near Doha.
Hill is a 50% partner in the joint venture.
Lusail City, a waterfront development currently under construction just north of Doha, is designed to be an environmental and self-sustaining community.
The 40km LLRT network will connect residents to Doha via the Doha Metro.
The tram system will have four lines, 25 stations overground and seven underground stations.
The project is due to be completed over the next four years.
