Swiss cement-maker Holcim has completed the purchase of Portland company Malarkey Roofing Products for an undisclosed sum.

Jan Jenisch, Holcim’s chief executive, said: “Building on Malarkey’s legacy of over 60 years of success, I look forward to unleashing our next era of growth together.

“This is another exciting step in the expansion of our solutions and products division, and advances our Strategy 2025 initiative to become the global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions.”

Malarkey has 600 employees and a turnover of around $600m. Its projected pre-tax profit for 2022 is put at $120m.

The sale will allow Holcim to maximise its share of the America’s $19bn residential roofing market, and will help the company meet its target of reaching $4bn in roofing net sales by 2025.
