US giant Jacobs Engineering has won the infrastructure design contract for what is being billed as the largest-ever mixed-use property scheme in the UAE emirate of Sharjah.
Jacobs will manage all aspects of infrastructure delivery for the Aljada project, which has an estimated sales value of $6.5bn (AED24bn).
Ensuring integration with the overall masterplan, Jacobs will develop roads, water, power and drainage, part of the overall $327m (AED1.2bn) infrastructure package for client Arada.
Since its unveiling in early September 2017, the 24-million-sq-ft Aljada scheme has become Sharjah’s fastest-selling residential community, Arada said in a press release.
Aljada will "transform the future of Sharjah", Arada said, adding it hopes to break ground by the end of the first quarter.
