Kajima has acquired a 34.5-acre site in the northern Dublin suburb of Belmayne and plans to build 260 build-to-rent homes in its first foray into the Irish residential market.

Consisting of private, social and affordable rentals, the development is located in the north fringe district with easy access to downtown. Kajima said the homes would be “suitable for both professionals and families looking for suburban living, close to the city centre”.

The site will consist of 108 one-bed, 123 two-bed and 17 three-bed homes, with over 500 sq m of residential amenities.

Designed by McCrossan O’Rourke Manning Architects, the development will consist of three buildings up to seven-storeys in height, arranged around two podium gardens.

The ground floor will allow for further trees and planting, with homes facing directly onto a new main street and links to a nearby rail station.

Dwayne McAleer, Managing Director at Kajima said: “We’re thrilled to make our first entry into Ireland’s private residential sector, a market that excites us with strong growth potential. Belmayne will be the perfect place for families and professionals alike who are seeking high-quality homes in a well-connected Dublin suburb.

“This acquisition is a great demonstration of Kajima’s ability to fund landmark developments using its own equity, which will make us a unique player in the market.”

Kajima plans to start construction in April 2022 and aim for completion by mid-2025.
