Knocking head injuries on the head: webinar

Despite the prevalence of hard hats in construction, nearly 200 workers suffer head injuries every year.

Is the hard hat hard enough?

That is the topic of an interesting webinar on 26 April hosted by Construction Manager magazine, with Swedish helmet safety technology company Mips, Arcadis and Centurion Safety Products.

It will explore how to reduce head-injury risk and whether new helmet technology could help.

Centurion is the first UK manufacturer to offer Mips technology in a hard hat and first company globally to incorporate their "cradle" rotational impact protection system into their helmets.

There will be a demonstration of the Centurion Nexus with Mips Safety System.

The webinar will examine:

  • The role hard hat technology has in reducing head injuries – How Mips works
  • Understanding rotational forces caused by head impacts
  • The all-new Nexus with Mips and the effectiveness of current testing standards and safety practices around ‘wearing hard hats’
  • Preventing head injuries onsite – Educating the supply chain – An industry perspective.

Speakers include:

  • Max Strandwitz, CEO, Mips
  • Olof Rylander, Senior Business Development Manager, MIPS
  • Steve Coppin, technical director, Arcadis; CIOB health and safety special interest group
  • Christopher Tidy, technical and training specialist, Centurion Safety Products and founder of #hardhatawarenessweek

Time: 26 April 2021, 2:30pm London time
