Larsen & Toubro’s Railway Business Unit has been awarded a design-and-build contract worth $160m for the Riyadh Metro in Saudi Arabia.
The Mumbai-based contractor will build 60km of track, including stretches in tunnels and viaducts, as well as at three depots.
The contract was awarded by the BACS consortium that is delivering the lines one and two. This is composed of Bechtel, Saudi contractor Almabani, Greece-based CCC and Siemens.
L&T’s work is due to be finished in January 2019.
In 2013, Akins, Louis Berger and Hill International were awarded Riyadh Metro contracts.
