Miami’s fashion-branded tower, Missoni Baia, reaches halfway mark

A new, 57-storey luxury residential tower branded by Italian fashion house Missoni has reached the construction halfway mark on the waterfront of Miami.

Its glass façade designed by Hani Rashid of Asymptote Architecture, the 198-metre-high Missoni Baia tower on the Biscayne Bay in Miami’s Edgewater neighbourhood will have 249 apartments ranging in price from about $600,000 to $9m.

The building’s general contractor, Civic Construction, has completed the tower’s 28th floor, with one level expected to be completed every week until topping out in March 2021.

Developers are OKO Group and Cain International, who launched construction of Missoni Baia in 2017. The project is slated for delivery in late 2021.

"As we accelerate towards completion later next year, Missoni Baia will be a retreat in the center of one of Miami’s most up-and-coming districts," said OKO Group chief executive Vladislav Doronin in a press notice.

"Miami is a dynamic gateway city and Missoni Baia represents the kind of luxury product that we strongly believe will continue to draw domestic and international interest," said Jonathan Goldstein, CEO of Cain International.

It is Missoni’s first branded residential tower.

The fashion house is incorporating its trademark design palette and its home furniture collection into the tower’s interior public spaces.

New York designer Paris Forino has designed the residences, furnishings and artworks under the creative direction of Angela and Rosita Missoni.

Every unit will have direct bay or city views.

Residences feature 10-foot ceilings, 8-10-foot-deep terraces, impact-resistant glass windows and sliding doors, floor-to-ceiling glazing, and marble-encased bathrooms.
