Engineering consultant Mott MacDonald has appointed Ben Warner as a project principal in the firm’s integrated transport business. Based in Dublin, he will help further expand the firm’s transport portfolio in the Republic of Ireland.

He joins Mott MacDonald from EY, where he was a senior member of the economics advisory practice and led the consultancy’s transport economics teams.

Warner oversaw the development of a new approach to cost/benefit analysis modelling and also developed a novel approach to assessing the residential market in Ireland, based on spatial mapping. On the latter, he was the author of two research papers assessing affordability for first time buyers.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Warner spent over a decade working across the UK Government as part of the Government Economic Service. This role saw him deliver projects for departments including the Ministry of Defence, The Home Office and the Ministry of Justice and take a leading role in supporting flagship Government Bills and policies, including the Criminal Justice and Courts Bill.

He holds a research doctorate in applied economics and spent time teaching at the University of York before moving into industry as an economic consultant with Rolls-Royce.
