"Who hasn’t dreamed of living somewhere they really want to be? The tools to make that dream a reality are now available. It’s not as dramatic as owning a house or a vacation home, but it’s not as basic as going on a trip.
"Put it in the mountains, near the ocean, or in a garden, and it immediately blends in with the surroundings, inviting you to a whole new life."
This was Japanese retailer Muji’s sales pitch for its 9 sq m prefabricated wooden cabin, which it has just offered to its domestic market.
The $26,400 building is clad in cedar wood, scorched to increase its strength and lined by cypress plywood. The floor is finished with mortar and the foundation is a reinforced concrete raft.
The hut comes with a sliding french window and offers extras such as insulation and electrical outets.
