$680m Abu Dhabi port contract goes to Parsons

US firm, Parsons has been awarded a $680m contract to manage the development of Delma Port in the UAE.

The contract was awarded by the Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) and will include the development of a 300m concrete wharf, designed for heavy loads, and new floating pontoons to create a marina setting for more than 280 boats.

Located about 40km off the coast of the western region of Abu Dhabi the port is a crucial transportation hub to and from Delma Island and is used for general cargo. A growing number of tourists are also visiting the island.

Acting CEO of ADPC, Mohamed Al Shamisi, said: "The development of Delma Port is one of the biggest projects in the western region, marking another milestone supporting and helping to develop the local communities and the establishment of sustainable businesses."
