Arup delivers ‘total’ design for Olympic sport complex in Turkmenistan

Arup has signed the contract for phase two of the Ashgabat Olympic complex (AOC) in Ashgabat, capital of Turkmenistan.

This phase will add an aquatics centre, indoor athletics arena and a tennis centre.

In 2010 the Olympic Council of Asia appointed Ashgabat to host the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017.

Venues include a velodrome, arenas, training halls, hotels, offices, a medical centre and media facilities.

The AOC in Turkmenistan’s capital city, is one of the largest building projects on which Arup has delivered "total" design and includes 750,000 sq m of sports and social buildings.

With contributors from around 20 Arup offices and external sub-consultants, Arup is providing architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, public health engineering and infrastructure design, including furniture, furnishings and equipment.
